• Discuss and explain the professional, legal and ethical aspects of vaccination
• Discuss the issues surrounding consent in relation to the administration of vaccines
• Describe effective communication methods with patients, parents and carers and other relevant people about immunisation
• Understand the difference between immunisation and vaccination
• Explain how vaccines work and how they can prevent disease
• Be able to identify the World Health Organisation recommended vaccines
• Describe national vaccine policy and schedules
• Discuss the potential risks of immunisations
• How to safely store and handle vaccines including the importance of the cold chain
• Demonstrate the steps required prior to, during and post vaccination administration
• Discuss the different routes of vaccination
• Demonstrate how to reconstitute and administer vaccines correctly
• Demonstrate how to recognise and manage anaphylaxis
• Demonstrate how to safely and effectively perform Basic Life Support

*Before attending any of our courses, it is mandatory for you to undertake and complete specific e-learning courses (theory materials), and access is given as soon as a booking is made.

What happens on the day?
Before the training begins, all attendees will sign in and have their ID checked before offering a range of complimentary refreshments and a training pack. After this, the training will begin, and all candidates will get hands-on practical training experience and participate in many interactive exercises. All attendees will also have a chance to ask questions and speak to one of our on-site experts, who can help with any queries.
